Peter has done various translations from English into Dutch and vice versa. This included speeches and brochures for the Burns Foundation and, more recently, translations of English plays. This is where his involvement and experience with cabaret and lyrics were an asset. In a play it is not primarily the correct translation of a sentence that matters, but recreating the feeling, the atmosphere of the original scene. This often requires letting go of the English altogether and choosing an approach that does justice to both the original scene and the translated one.

Nick Payne’s Constellations was named the winner of the best play category at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards. The play ran successfully both on Broadway and in many other theatres around the world. It is a fascinating story about free will and friendship. About destiny and multiverse. But also about the magic of honey. And a cosmic love. The Dutch version, featuring Britte Lagcher and Beau Schneider will tour the theatres this season. A limited tour, due to the Corona pandemic.

In 1997, Andrew Neiderman's novel 'The Devil's Advocate' was turned into a successful film, featuring Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves. In 2015 Julian Woolford adapted the novel for the theatre. The Dutch version saw its opening night in november 2015 in the Stadsshouwbutrg Haarlem and subsequently toured the Netherlands. The Dutch play was directed by Ursul de Geer and featured well-known actors like Waldemar Torenstra and Victor Löw.

'Levenslang Theater', the Dutch translation of David Mamet's play 'Life in the Theatre', toured the theatres in 2013, featuring Eric Schneider and his son, Beau Schneider. It was the first time father and son played together. 'Levenslang Theater' was directed by Wannie de Wijn.
